planning for the future

Tampa Bay Water continuously plans for the future drinking water supply of our region.  Created with public input, and the assistance of stakeholder groups and the member governments, Tampa Bay Water’s Long-Term Water Supply Plan and Master Water Plan provide the framework to meet the region’s future water needs.

Tampa Bay Water’s Long-Term Water Supply Plan, a comprehensive listing of all possible water supply sources, documents the analysis and decision-making process that went into identifying potential new sources of water supply.

Tampa Bay Water’s Master Water Plan identifies specific project ideas, from the Long-Term Water Supply Plan, for additional feasibility studies.  These projects may eventually be chosen for construction.

New water supply projects are designed and constructed as needed.  To accomplish this objective, Tampa Bay Water must continually identify, plan, permit, design and construct reliable, cost-effective and environmentally sustainable water supply projects.  The Master Water Plan, updated in 2008, includes six projects under study in 2009-2013.  For more information on these projects, please see our current Master Water Plan.
